The Castle Centre of Denmark

The kings of the Middle Ages founded not only the castle in Vordingborg but also the constitution and the constitutional state in Denmark. They shaped the country politically and geographically by conducting crusades and negotiations with the churches and rulers in Europe.

Information about The Castle Center of Denmark

Denmark's Castle CenterThe oldest and best-preserved tower in the North, the Goose tower, flanks the Castle Centre of Denmark. Today, you can experience the ruins of the largest castle in Denmark, the magnificent view from the Goose Tower and visit the castle centre's main building. Here you will find exciting exhibitions, knight's workshops and other activities for the entire family.

Every summer, archaeologists and researchers dig for new knowledge about the castle and everyday during the period of digging they describe the finds. The children's castle centre is open for visitors throughout the year, but from June the 15th and about 6 weeks forward we have a lot of extra activities. You can make coins; purses; try to write with a festher as they did in the Middle Ages and a much more. You can be dressed as a king and in the knight's workshop you can make your own bow and arrows, sword, knife and other things belonging to a real knight's armour.
