Philosopher's benches on Møn and South Zealand

Philosopher's benches were invented on Møn. As a part of the tourist theme in 2006 "The sound of silence" the tourist association of Møn-South Zealand introduced the idea of giving a bench among the citizens. Since then, they have become a brand for MØn as tourist destination.
The philosopher's benches signal: this is where you can sit down in peace and quiet. Enjoy the beautiful view and philosophize about life. Share your joy with your beloved.
You are welcome!

The Philosopher's benches

are all sponsored by local fiery souls, who both reveal their favourite resting places and continue the chain of inspiration and the bon mot.
There are no signs leading to the philosopher's benches. They are to be discovered on a hike or a bicycle tour. Sometimes, you encounter a bench unexpectedly. In common they have the special views – to the water, to woods, to bird's areas, to harbours and towns and to natural and cultural areas. The texts have their origin in known and unknown Danish or international authors, poets, musicians, children and adults. And always, they give food for thoughts.
The idea has become popular. The original 15 benches quickly became 25 and 3 years later, 50 philosopher's benches are placed around Møn and South Zealand.
